Home to George Fox University, Newberg is a city in Yamhill County, Oregon. Its history stems back to 1834, when Ewing Young settled on the west bank of the Williamette River near the mouth of Chehalem Creek, opposite Champoeg. In 1848, Joseph Rogers settled near what is now Newberg. Originally, the community was known as Chehalem, then Roger's Landing. However, when it was incorporated in 1889, the town was named for the Neuberg, Germany, the home town of its first postmaster.
