Named for the Saint Paul Mission founded by Archbishop Francois Norbert Blanchet, St. Paul is a city in Marion County, Oregon. In 1836, the community's early settlers built a log church near the city's current location, and then Father Blanchet celebrated the first Catholic mass in Oregon there in 1839, when he blessed the church and dedicated it to Saint Paul. The town's post office was established in 1874, and the community was incorporated as a city in 1901.
