Platted in the 1860s, at which time its post office was established, Sheridan is a city in Yamhill County, Oregon. The city was incorporated in 1880, and named in honor of General Philip Henry Sheridan, a Civil War hero. Sheridan is located in the western part of the Williamette Valley, along the South Yamhill River.
