Fairview Township, in Erie County, Pennsylvania was settled in 1797 and is one of the original 16 townships in that county. It was named for the utterance of settler Colonel Thomas Forster when he looked over the land he had just bought and exclaimed, "This is the fairest view I have seen yet!"
