Elloree is located in Orangeburg County, South Carolina. After the Civil War, Elloree was transformed from a settlement community into a town, largely through the work of William J. Snider, who built a store there on the west bank of Lake Marion, later adding a grist mill, a saw mill, and a cotton gin, donating land for schools and churches.
