Settled in the 1750s, Lowrys is located in Chester County, South Carolina. Originally, the town was known as Lowrysville, named for Parson Lowry, who owned a great deal of property in the area. Later, the "s" was dropped from Lowrysville, and at some point it was shortened more to Lowrys.
