McBee is in the southwestern tip of Chesterfield County. McBee was named for V.E. "Bunch" McBee, one of South Carolina's leading forces in the building of railroads, and the man responsible for the Columbia, South Carolina to Hamlet, North Carolina line, which ran through McBee. He was also the superintendent of the Seaboard Air Line Railway, which used the McBee depot for passengers and freight.
