Home to the annual Frederick Finn Fest, Frederick is a small town in Brown County, South Dakota. Frederick began as a railroad town, platted and sold to early settlers by the Chicago, Milwaukee & St. Paul Railroad, which completed its line to the area in 1881. The town was incorporated the following year.

Mikkonen Land Corporation Organic Family Farm
Although the land corporation was formed in 1980, the farm actually began in 1944 with the Mikkonen brothers and two hundred acres, which has since grown to more than one thousand eight hundred acres.
