The City of Redfield is the seat of Spink County, South Dakota. The unincorporated areas outside of the city are known as Redfield Township. The first settlers arrived in the area in 1878, and a post office was established in 1880, at which time the community was identified as Stennett Junction, which was changed to Redfield the following year, and the city was incorporated in 1883.
