Franklin, Tennessee is the county of Williamson County and was settled in 1768 and founded by Abram Maury, Jr, a state senator at the tine, in 1799. It was named in honor of Benjamin Franklin, a close friend of Dr. Hugh Williamson, a delegate to the Continental Congress and the man for whom the county was named.
