Gallatin, Tennessee is the county seat of Sumner County. Andrew Jackson was the first person to buy a lot when the town was platted in 1803. The town was incorporated in 1815 and built around an open square. It was named in honor of Albert Gallatin, former U.S. Secretary of the Treasury.
