Comstock, an unincorporated community in Val Verde County, was founded around 1883 on the Galveston, Harrisburg and San Antonio Railway. First named Sotol City, it was later renamed for John Comstock, a railroad dispatcher. Seminole Canyon, a Texas state park, is nearby.
