Junction, the county seat of Kimble County, is physically located in central Texas. It is named for its position at the confluence of the North and South Llano Rivers. It was founded in 1876 and was at that time called Denman, in honor of its surveyor. It was renamed Junction City in 1877 and the word “City” was dropped from the town’s name in 1894.
