Lufkin is the seat of Angelina County, a few miles northeast of the center of the county, in the heart of the Forest Country of East Texas. Founded in 1882, as a stop along the Houston, East and West Texas Railway, the city is currently the home of Lufkin Industries and the Atkinson Candy Company.
