Rowlett, Texas, is situated in both Dallas and Rockwall Counties. Originally called Morris in honor of the first postmaster, Austin Morris, it was later named Rowlett, after the Rowlett Creek which was itself named in honor of Daniel Rowlett, whose property the waterway traverses. The town was incorporated in 1952.
