San Angelo, Texas, was established in 1867. The railroad arrived in 1888, and around that time, it became the county seat of Tom Green County. It hosts Goodfellow Air Force Base.

Serving as a museum today, the facility encompasses most of the former army post and twenty-three original and restored fort structures. Hours of operation are given, along with a calendar of events.
