A city in Yakima County lying inside the boundaries of the Yakima Nation's Reservation. The name was derived from an Indian word “Xuupinish”, that means sloping and spreading, and is also believed that it came from the word “Thappahnish”, which translates to “People of the trail that comes from the foot of the hills.”
