The city of Hudson, Wisconsin, is in St. Croix County and was settled in 1840 and was called “Willow River.” That name was later changed to Buena Vista after one of the founders returned from the Mexican War, where he fought in the Battle of Buena Vista. It was finally changed to Hudson, reflecting the similarities between the city and the land along the Hudson River in New York.
