The Family of Roman Catholic congregations known as the Pauline Family consists of nine religious and aggregated institutes, and an association of lay collaborators, founded by Blessed James Alberione, beginning in 1914. The mission of members of the Pauline Family is to give the whole Christ, Jesus Master, Way, Truth and Life to the World, using every suitable means of communication, including modern media, to address the spiritual needs of the modern world in a modern way. The Pauline Family consists of five Religious Institutes: the Society of Saint Paul, Daughters of Saint Paul, Sister Disciples of the Divine Master, Sisters of Jesus the Good Shepherd, Sisters of Mary Queen of Apostles; as well as four Aggregated Institutes: Institute of Jesus Priest, Institute of Gabriel the Archangel, Institute of Our Lady's Annunciation, and Institute of the Holy Family; and one association of lay collaborators, the Association of Pauline Cooperators. The Paulists (sometimes also called Paulines) are orders or congregations under the patronage of the first hermit, Paul of Thebes. Male Pauline congregations include the Order of Saint Paul the First Hermit (Hermits of St. Paul of France, Hermits of St. Paul of Portugal, Hermits of St. Paul of Poland), and the Congregation of Missionary Priests of Saint Paul the Apostle. Female congregations include Blind Sisters of Saint Paul and Sisters of Saint Paul of Chartres. The Missionary Society of Saint Paul the Apostle (Paulist Fathers) is a Roman Catholic society of apostolic life for men, whose members are are also known as Paulists, although they are otherwise unrelated to the other congregations known as Paulists. The Paulist Fathers were the first religious community of priests created in North America.
