New Wine is a charismatic evangelical network that exists to equip churches and leaders for renewal, mission, and the work of the Holy Spirit.

It functions not as a denomination but as a network or a broad family of congregations and leaders, primarily in the United Kingdom but active internationally, who share a commitment to Spirit-empowered ministry, contemporary worship, and the revitalization of local churches.

New Wine began in 1989 under the leadership of David Pytches, then vicar of Saint Andrew's Church in Chorleywood, Hertfordshire. The movement emerged from the charismatic renewal currents within the Church of England, particularly those emphasizing spiritual gifts, healing prayer, and dynamic worship. Its earliest expression was a summer conference designed to refresh clergy and lay leaders, and to encourage a renewed openness to the Holy Spirit.

Over time, the conferences grew into a full network of churches and leaders. By the 1990s and 2000s, New Wine had become one of the most influential renewal movements within British evangelicalism, shaping worship styles, leadership training, and church-planting initiatives. Today, New Wind spans 14 countries, representing more than 1,000 churches, 4,000 leaders, and tens of thousands of participants in its events.

New Wine is not a denomination and does not impose a formal doctrinal statement beyond mainstream evangelical orthodoxy. Its theological identity can be summarized in several key emphases, such as charismatic evangelicalism (a strong commitment to the authority of Scripture combined with an expectation of the active presence and gifts of the Holy Spirit), spiritual renewal (healing prayer, prophetic ministry, and Spirit-led worship are central to its gatherings and local church life), mission and evangelism (the movement's motto, local churches changing nations, reflects its belief that empowered congregations can transform society), and discipleship and leadership development (New Wine invests heavily in training leaders to build healthy, outward-focused churches). While individual churches may vary in secondary matters, the network is united by a shared charismatic and missional ethos rather than a rigid doctrinal system.

New Wine is organized as a charitable trust headquartered in Ealing, London. It operates through several interconnected components, including the New Wine Trust (the legal and administrative body overseeing events, finances, and strategic direction), its national leadership (led by a National Leader and a Trust Chair), its leadership network (a structured network that connects and supports pastors and ministry leaders through regional gatherings, training, and mentoring), events and conferences (the annual New Wine Festival and Leadership Conference serve as the movement's primary gathering points, offering worship, teaching, and ministry), and international partnerships (New Wine collaborates with churches and networks in multiple countries, adapting its model to ocal contexts). This structure allows the movement to remain decentralized and relational while still providing significant resources and coordination.

Several features distinguish New Wine within the larger body of evangelical and charismatic Christianity. Included is its conference-driven renewal, its local church focus, charismatic worship structure, leadership development, and broad evangelical appeal.

New Wine is one of the more influential renewal networks in UK Christianity, shaping worship, leadership, and mission across a wide range of churches.
