Kingdom Network USA is a Reformed church network and denomination that emerged in 2021 as a coalition of churches pursuing gospel ministry, discipleship, church planting, and leadership development within a more flexible organizational framework than a traditional denomination.
It describes itself as "a community of Reformed churches" united around the mission of "multiplying disciples, leaders, and churches together." According to its denominational website, the network currently consists of four regional networks in the Chicago area, the Great Plains, Michigan, and California, and includes dozens of church locations.
While rooted in the historic Reformed tradition, Kingdom Network seeks to combine theological orthodoxy with what it considers a nimble, relational, and mission-oriented approach to church life. The organization often describes itself as a "denomi-network," blending aspects of a denomination and a ministry network.
The origins of Kingdom Network lie in relationships among pastors, elders, and congregations within the Reformed Church in America (RCA). According to Kingdom Network's account, a group of churches became increasingly convinced that traditional denominational structures limited their ability to pursue their vision for discipleship, leadership multiplication, and church planting. Leaders within the movement sought a Reformed body that would be faithful to historic doctrine and innovative in ministry strategy.
The network officially began on September 9, 2021. Its founders described the new organization as a response to changing cultural conditions and the challenges of ministry in what they characterized as a post-Christian environment. They believed a new ecclesiastical structure would provide greater flexibility while preserving accountability and theological continuity.
External reporting indicates that all five founding congregations had previously been affiliated with the Reformed Church in America. Several churches had spent years attempting to influence the denomination's direction before concluding that separation was necessary.
The creation of Kingdom Network should be understood within the broader conflicts that affected the Reformed Church in America during the 2010s and early 2020s. Debates over biblical interpretation, human sexuality, ecclesiastical authority, and denominational identity generated significant tensions within the RCA. These discussions ultimately led some congregations to seek alternative affiliations.
Leaders associated with Kingdom Network argued that the RCA's disagreements had become difficult to resolve. They did not merely create a conservative alternative; they established a new movement centered on multiplication, church planting, and regional collaboration. One founding member emphasized that the network was intended to focus first on proclaiming the gospel of Jesus Christ and supporting churches in effective ministry.
Following its formation, Kingdom Network expanded beyond its original churches into multiple regions. In 2022, the Christian Reformed Church in North America recognized Kingdom Network USA as a "church in dialogue," reflecting its relationships with the broader Reformed community.
One of Kingdom Network's most distinctive features is its intentionally simple structure, including boards, elders, or ministry teams responsible for governance and oversight.
Regional networks function as the primary center of collaboration. Kingdom Network emphasizes relationships between churches, seeing the region as where pastors work most closely together. According to the denomination, regional networks typically include three to twelve churches within a geographic area and may organize teams focused on leadership development, church multiplication, and relational support.
Currently, the denomination has four regions: California, Chicagoland, Great Plains, and Michigan.
The Global Board is the denomination's highest level of oversight. It safeguards the network's mission, vision, and theological commitments; provides accountability and support to regional networks; oversees ordination and leadership development; and organizes network-wide gatherings.
Kingdom Network clearly identifies itself as a Reformed movement rooted in historic Protestant theology. It adheres to classic Christian creeds, including the Apostles' Creed, Nicene Creed, and Athanasian Creed, as well as the Heidelberg Catechism.
The organization stresses the authority and inspiration of Scripture and places particular emphasis on the gospel of Jesus Christ, discipleship, evangelism, and church multiplication.
The network grants liberty on issues such as infant baptism versus believer's baptism, women's ordination, and styles of worship.
The denomination affirms the historic biblical understanding of sexuality, maintaining that marriage is between a man and a woman.
