Comedian and screenwriter Dave Chappelle was born August 24, 1973 in Washington, D.C. to parents who were each college professors. In addition, his mother is a Unitarian Universalist minister. He was raised in Silver Spring, Maryland and began his career in the 1993 movie “Robin Hood: Men in Tights.”In 2003, he had a weekly sketch comedy series called “Chappelle’s Show” which was highly successful until he walked away from show business just before his third season was about to air. He turned up in South Africa, and did not return to California until June of 2005. Dave is married with three children and converted to Islam in 1998.
