Surrounding Lake Paradise, Carp Lake, Michigan is an unincorporated village in eastern Carp Pake Township, in the northern Lower Peninsula.
Carp Lake was listed as a census-designated place for the 2010 census, giving it a defined boundary for the purpose of the census, although its boundaries do not include the easternmost portion of the lake, which is in Hebron Township, Cheboygan County, although that area is generally considered to be part of Carp Lake.

Originally known as Carp Lake, for the type of fish that abounded within the body of water, Lake Paradise covers an area of around 1,900 acres. The lake is popular among fishermen and noted for its bass, perch, northern pike, and walleye today. The Carp Lake River, a tributary of Lake Michigan, is fed by the outflow from Lake Paradise.
Due largely to Lake Paradise, as well as to several surrounding lakes and parks, Carp Lake is home to several vacation resorts, cabins, and guest accommodations. Just north of the census-designated area of Carp Lake, but generally considered to be within the community, the Mackinaw Club is a 310-acre golf course
