Jenison, Michigan is an unincorporated community in east Georgetown Charter Township, Ottawa County, in the western Lower Peninsula. Jenison is about twenty miles from Lake Michigan.

For the purpose of the census, Jenison is a census-designated place (CDP), which defines boundaries, although without legal status, as the community is governed by the township. CDP boundaries do not necessarily correspond to that which is locally considered to be part of Jenison, and the Jenison post officers covers an area larger than the CDP.

According to the CDP boundaries, the western border of Jenison is 28th Avenue, the northern boundary is Bauer Road, except for a portion in the northeast that juts north to Oakbrook Drive, then followoing Cottonwood Drive southeast to Baldwin Street, where the boundary moves east a few blocks, following Main Street to Chicago Drive (M-21), where it almost abuts Grandville, then runs southwest to Port Sheldon Court, and Port Sheldon Street, which forms a short southern boundary.

Although the CDP does not include frontage on the Grand River, to the east, that area is locally considered part of the community.

Jenison is centered on Baldwin Street and 20th Avenue, and I-196 is about one mile east of Jenison's easternmost border.

Cities and villages within twenty miles of Jenison include Hudsonville, Grandville, Wyoming, Kentwood, East Grand Rapids, Walker, Zeeland, and Coopersville, and the unincorporated community of Tallmadge is about nine miles to the north.

Jenison was founded by, and named for, twin brothers, Luman and Lucius Jenison, who built a large grist mill there in 1864. When a post office was established on January 29, 1872, it was named Jenisonville, with George Weatherwax as postmaster, but it was changed to Jenison on October 14, 1887.

In 2010, the Jenison CDP had a population of 16,538, with a population density of 2,803.1 persons per square mile.
