This section of our web guide focuses on equipment, gear, supplies, and other products associated with roller sports.

These may include various inline skating disciplines, roller skating, and scootering.

Some of the inline skating disciplines (Vert skating, aggressive inline skating, inline figure skating, and inline alpine skating) are included under Extreme Sports, while others (inline skating, inline hockey, inline skater hockey, and roller soccer) are more appropriate for this category, although there is room for overlap.

Roller skating disciplines include artistic roller skating, roller speed skating, jam skating, roller derby, rink hockey, road skating, and roller skiing.

While freestyle scootering might be considered an extreme sport, scootering itself is not necessarily extreme, so we will be including non-motorized scootering and freestyle scootering in this category, or a subcategory.

Although skateboarding is a roller sport that is not necessarily extreme, rather than having two categories for skateboarding, we are including skateboarding products in our Skateboarding & Longboarding category within our Extreme Sports section.

Roller sports encompass a large family of activities, most of which share core equipment like skates or scooters, protective gear, maintenance tools, apparel, and accessories. Additionally, training aids might be used, such as balance trainers, plyometric boxes for skaters, and agility cones.

General roller sports gear includes the skates, either quad (four-wheel) skates or inline (wheeled single-file) skates in recreational, fitness, and specialist forms, with boots of leather or synthetic composite, a chassis (plates/frames) in aluminum or carbon fiber. Major brands of roller skates include Riedell, Sure-Grip, and Moxi, while Rollerblade, K2, Powerslide, and Bont represent the inline skate market. There are others, as well. RC Sports, the world's largest roller distributor, carries custom skate kits, wheels, plates, apparel, and rink supplies.

Protective gear may include helmets, wrist guards, knee pads, elbow pads, and hip pads. Protective pads are composed of two key parts: a hard shell (typically made of ABS or PP) and a cushioning layer, usually EVA foam. Brands of protective gear include Pro-Tec, Triple Eight, G-Form, and Rollerblade X-Gear.

Maintenance and accessories used in roller sports include various tools, such as T-wrenches, bearing presses, Allen wrenches, lubricant, and wheel truing kits. Parts include bearings (ABEC-rated, Swiss), wheels (urethane, 72-110 mm), frames, toe stops, and brake systems. Major retailers of maintenance tools and accessories include Inline Warehouse, RC Sports, and Amazon.

Apparel and brands might include breathable performance tops, compression shorts, skate socks, skate bags, wheel bags, and tool pouches. Brands include VNLA, Pacer, Radar, and Roller Skate Nation.

Manufacturers of inline skating equipment and gear include Rollerblade Twister, K2 VO2, Powerslide Phuzion, and Bont Riot, while Bauer, CCM, Mission, True, Graf, and Tempish produce equipment and gear for inline hockey and skater hockey.

Brands of other specific disciplines include: artistic roller skating (Jackson Ultima, Chaya, Risport, and Moxi), roller speed skating (Bont, Luigino, Rollerblade Speed, and Powerslide), jam skating (Moxi, SugarSkate, and Impala), roller derby (Riedell, Sure-Grip, Antik, Bont, and Gir.X), rink hockey, also known as hard-boot floor hockey (Oxa, Salming, and Azemad), roller skiing (Swenor, Fischer, Alpina, and Salomon), and non-motorized scootering (Madd Gear, Envy, Fuzion, Sacrifice, Ethic, Globber, and Razor).

Manufacturers and retailers of equipment, gear, and other products associated with roller sports are appropriate for this category.
