Introduction:

In this tutorial I will be teaching you how to make a CD cover similar to the one of Lindsay Lohan’s CD called “Speak“. A preview of the final result can be seen below.

If you’re ready then let’s begin…

What You’ll Need:

– Mulder Handwriting Font (click here to download)
– Journal Font (click here to download)
– Assorted Grunge Brush Packs (click here to search)

Step 1: New Document

First open up Photoshop and make a new document using the settings below:

Step 2: CD Cover Background

Now let’s add the background. Get your ‘Paint Bucket Tool‘ and fill the entire background using black (#000000). Now get some of her lyrics from the CD ( you can search for the lyrics on Google). Now copy her lyrics into a big text box so that the the lyrics fill up the background. Use the Mulder Handwriting font you downloaded. You should now have something similar to this:

Step 3: Adding the Name and Tape

Now let’s add a pink rectangle at the top of our cd using the ‘Rectangle Tool‘. Cut a small piece of the top left corner of the tape. Now lower the opacity to 85%. You should now have something like this:

Now using the Journal font, write LINDSAY LOHAN (in capital letters) on that tape and lower the opacity also to 85%. Rotate it a few degrees counter-clockwise to go with the tape. You should now have something like this:

Step 4: Adding the Main Picture

Now find a decent picture of Lindsay Lohan and put it in the center of your CD Cover. Rotate it a few degrees to match her name and the tape. Place that layer under the tape. You should now have something like this:

If you would like to use the picture I used click here.

Step 5: Adding The CD Title

Now let’s add the name of the CD. Get your ‘Rectangle Tool‘ out and make a white rectangle on the bottom-left corner of the picture. Rotate the rectangle a few degrees to the left to match the picture. Now using the font ‘FuturaBlack BT‘ write the name of the CD (“Speak“) on the rectangle. Now get a grunge brush and softly erase the bottom edges of the font. Don’t forget to rasterize the layer before you apply the grunge brush. You should now have something like this:

Step 6: Adding The Extras

Now we’re going to add the extra details. Get some random brushes that you think will go good with the theme here. Most of my brushes were grunge brushes. I also used a Custom Shape for the girl and the lightening bolt. Lower the opacity of some of your brushes to blend in with the background. After this step you should have your final result and should look something like this:

And now you’re done! Sit back and enjoy your new Lindsay Lohan CD Cover!
